Saint James School of Medicine

Saint James School of Medicine (SJSM) is located on the British colony island of Anguilla. It was originally established in 2000 on the Dutch island of Bonaire. On October 1, 2013, the Bonaire campus became the subcampus of the Anguilla campus.

Saint James School of Medicine's US office is located in Illinois. Currently SJSM is one of the cheapest caribbean medical schools that's available. The tuition cost of basic sciences is $7,150 per semester and for clinical clerkships it is $8,200 as of January 2014.

The school only accepts US/Canadian citizens and permanent residents. So, if you do not have either or then it's strongly recommended not to apply.

The basic science consists of 16 months of class work on the island of Anguilla. Afterwards, students must move to Chicago, IL in USA and conduct the Advanced Introduction to Clinical Medicine 5th semester. After the 5th semester students can take at least 4 months off to study for the USMLE Step 1 and take the exam. After the students pass the USMLE Step 1, he/she must complete 80 weeks of clinical clerkships with the ACGME hospitals and medical centers, which are affiliated with the school. Within those 80 weeks the students must pass the USMLE Step 2 CK and the USMLE Step 2 CS and complete a thesis project in order to graduate.

Currently many SJSM graduates are in residencies.  Each year more and more graduates attain residencies. Their names can be found in the News/Events section of the school's website.
